Kiddiwinkie Schoolhouse @ Orchard organized various age-appropriate activities in line with our SSDB theme, “Many Helping Hands, Caring for Everyone!”
The children learnt to save the Earth through simple actions like turning off lights and taps, while also understanding how to keep beaches clean and provide a safe home for sea animals. They categorized materials such as plastics, metal, cardboard, and paper and created educational flyers for the public, encouraging proper waste disposal and recycling. Then, the older children went down to the beach for a clean-up session, allowing them to understand how they can play their part in caring for the environment and keeping the beach clean. Lastly, they created an upcycled tote bag using an old t-shirt that they brought from home. This activity allowed the children to understand how they can upcycle old items to create new things that are useful.
It was a successful and fulfilling event! We hope that the children are even more inspired to take care of their environment through our SSDB project!
