Embarking on the SSDB project 2019 #JomFUNraisingRaya@MFSPC4! allows the teachers at My First Skool at Blk 208B Punggol Place, the children, the parents and the community to come together to build stronger partnerships through a meaningful collaboration as we celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri together and embark on a ‘Fun’ Raising project by Al-islah Mosque entitled Blessings in Harmony.
My First Skool at Blk 208B Punggol Place was the first MFS Centre in Punggol to pilot the Malay Language Curriculum in Year 2018. We took this opportunity to introduce and share the foundation of Malay Language, cultural practices and values to our children regardless of race and religion. Traditional games such as sepak takraw, Gasing, Batik Painting was also prepared for everyone to experience!
Combining the spirit the of Hari Raya Aidilfitri Celebrations, and raising the Malay culture and its awareness whilst embarking on the ‘Fun’ raising project, the children decided on ‘selling things’ such as decoupage, coasters, keychains, and malay cookies such as suji, Kek batik, kuih layang-layang and more! In addition the children perform traditional performances such as dikir barat, malay dance and a skit, to raise funds for the families in need to get by their daily needs. Through these, they learn the different values such as empathy, respect, kindness and compassion that they can gain beyond the school setting.
