Growing Bean Sprouts @ Bedok Methodist Preschool

There is simply nothing better than growing our own vegetables to put on our plates! At Bedok Methodist Preschool, our children learnt about sustainability and to care for the environment.

They sprouted green beans in their classrooms. It is healthy and the most rewarding way for the children to observe the beans growing into vegetables.

The green beans were placed into kettles and the children took turns to change the water every day. After five days of sprouting, the children harvested their self-grown vegetables and plucked away the roots before passing them to our school cook. She then used these vegetables to cook delicious meals for all to enjoy!

By growing our own vegetables, we can ensure we are not using pesticides or harmful chemicals that will contribute to water and air pollution.

In this project, we learnt to grow vegetables and reduce pollution.
