Since 2013, NurtureStars Preschool have been working closely and supporting their adopted community partner - Ju Eng Home for the Seniors. This is part of our corporate social responsibility. Every year, NurtureStars would be involved in a charitable event, named the “Little Entrepreneur Project” (LEP). As part of the school values on social awareness and readiness, this aims to promote awareness to the children about the less fortunate people around them and how their little effort can make a difference in these people.
This year, NurtureStars at SAFRA Tampines continued this meaningful partnership with Ju Eng Home for the Seniors. In collaboration with ECDA Innovative Project “Garden in the City,” the children, together with their teachers brainstormed creative ideas related to the theme. They created artworks such as canvas painting, pillow making, and even terrarium. They also planned some exciting DIY activities, like planting and creating their potpourri on the day. They hoped to entice more customers so as to raise more funds for the Home. They learnt that “alone they can do little, nut with many, they can do a lot.”
On Fri, 21 July 2017, the K2 children took charge of the stalls. Guided by their teachers, they were taught various skills such as how to display the items to sell and how to price them, and communicating with their customers. Parents showed their tremendous support by purchasing the work pieces which the children. Parents also participated in various activities which were designed for their children and themselves. It was indeed another significant and fruitful learning journey for the children.
