For 2023’s Start Small Dream Big (SSDB) project, M.Y World @ Waterway SunDew had chosen the theme “Fun with Elderly” to create an opportunity for Intergeneration Interactions to take place between the children and the elderly.
Our N2 class invited their grandparents to join in a fun activity of folding and flying their paper planes together. This promoted intergenerational interactions and help built healthy relationships between our children and their grandparents.
In addition, the K1 and K2 classes had also collaborated with Bright Hill Evergreen Home in June where the children presented their special ‘Give-a-gift’ sensory bottle. This was a take-home kit activity that was handmade by both children and parents. The children also played interactive games and performed a dance routine for the elderly at the home.
Overall, this project was not only an interactive activity with the elderly, but also, an excellent opportunity for children to display positive learning dispositions and meaningful core values such as respect and caring.
