At E-Bridge Preschool Sumang Lane, we believe in nurturing compassionate young hearts through meaningful community engagements. Recently, our Nursery 2 (N2) and Kindergarten 1 (K1) children embarked on a heartwarming initiative as part of the Start Small Dream Big project. The focus was on fostering connections and spreading joy to the elderly residents of St Luke’s ElderCare.
Food Donation Drive: To kickstart our project, the children and parents of E-Bridge Pre-School Sumang Lane enthusiastically participated in a food donation drive within our preschool community. They donated a variety of non-perishable food items, each donation representing a gesture of care and solidarity towards the elderly.
Visit to St Luke’s ElderCare: Accompanied by our dedicated educators and parents volunteers, the N2 and K1 children visited St Luke’s ElderCare to deliver the collected donations. Upon arrival, they were warmly welcomed by the elderly residents, whose faces lit up with joy at the sight of our young visitors. The children eagerly shared their donations, understanding the significance of their contributions in brightening someone else’s day.
Engaging Activities: The visit was not just about donations; it was a day filled with heartwarming interactions and shared experiences. The children and elderly residents bonded through various activities that bridged the generation gap:
Singing Songs: Together, they sang cheerful songs that brought smiles to everyone’s faces and created a lively atmosphere.
Art and Craft Sessions: The children and elderly engaged in creative sessions, making bracelets and necklaces together. These activities encouraged teamwork and allowed for meaningful exchanges of skills and stories.
Games and Play: Simple games were played, fostering laughter and camaraderie among the children and elderly, creating memories that would last beyond the day.
Expressions of Love and Compassion: As a testament to their empathy and creativity, the children also presented handmade art and craft pieces to the elderly residents. These tokens were crafted with love back at the preschool, symbolizing their care and appreciation for their new friends at St Luke’s ElderCare.
Through this project, our preschoolers not only learned the importance of giving back to the community but also experienced firsthand the joy of making a positive impact in the lives of others. They discovered the power of empathy and connection, laying the foundation for a future where kindness and compassion are integral parts of their lives.
At E-Bridge Preschool Sumang Lane, initiatives like Start Small Dream Big are more than just projects; they are opportunities to instill values, nurture empathy, and build bridges between generations, creating a more caring and inclusive society—one small dream at a time.
