- Children played an active role in making difference to someone else’s life. They were given a chance to help people in need through setting-up a donation drive for old clothes, toys and books and managed a flea market to sell all the donation items to raise funds. All donations will be given to SSDB for our chosen charity.
Children made posters and banners to inform the public and parents for the up-coming Flea Market. The children from K1 and K2 helped to give out posters and flyers for publicity. K1 and K2 children sorted all the donated items and labelled with price tags to display in a Flea Market in the centre.
This project created opportunities for children to contribute to the community in their own little way. They’ve learnt about responsibility, empathy, and compassion for others. Parents, family members and community partners were participated together to support children’s efforts in giving back to the community.
We raised an amount of $670 from our Flea Market. Children managed their assigned booths with the help of their parents. Parents, teachers and children from Infant level to K2 participated in our flea market.
Children recorded and wrote their reflection journal about their journey in SSDB 2018. They included text, photos and artefacts about their experience in all SSDB activities. They showed their reflection journal in the class and discussed what they have learnt in the SSDB project 2018.
