Our K2 children discussed and agreed that they would like to create board games and activities using ♻️ Recycled materials for the Elderly citizens at All Saints Silver Lifestyle Club @ Yishun Central.
Let’s build games like chess and snake & ladders for them! I think it is important for them to play this kind of games to help keep their minds active!
Our children went home to discuss with their parents. They developed a project plan and brought the plan to school to share their plans with their classmates. Children shared constructive feedback on what can be improved, materials they can use and whether it is appropriate for the elderly citizens.
You should use things like bottle caps for the chess pieces or you can use rocks too!
Children wrote these feedbacks in their SSDB booklet and brought it home. Parents and children worked together in creating a DIY board game!
In June, children brought their finished work to school. They explained the instructions to their classmates. Children attempted each of their friend’s game. Children did some finishing touch to further improve their game as they really wanted to give only the best to the Elderly.
Wow! How did you make this? How do we play this? Can we try?
In July, our children excitedly delivered the games to the Elderly Care centre where the staff shared with them that the elderly will be playing with the games every morning.
Teacher Hannah, will the elderly like our games? Will they enjoy playing them?
We are so excited! Finally, we are giving them our games!
