To commemorate the Festival of Lights - Deepavali in a thoughtful and meaningful manner, we encouraged parents to light up the faces of migrant workers by donating a bottle/pack of Deepavali Snack for Migrant Workers!
This is to inculcate the values of giving back to the society and acknowledging the relentless hard work and tireless contribution of the migrant workers who have laboured in love for our sunny island, Singapore! Stars were informed that these group of people are vital in building our home, school, buildings, parks, etc! We wanted to light up their faces through this act of kindness as this pandemic had brought to light the challenges they faced and are still facing!
Now who could be a better advocate for the cause? Our Stars, the children! And who could be a better role model for a child besides his/her own parents? Yes, we garnered the support of our parents to each purchase a bottle of snack to contribute to the cause!
We collaborated with two vendors, a home baker and a traditional Indian clothes vendor to create a Deepavali booth for the Deepavali Donation Drive & since children were encouraged to wear Indian ethnic costume for the celebration on 3rd November! We eased parents’ hassle of ordering online or heading to Little India during this period of unusual surge of Covid-19 cases! Deepavali goodies & Indian ethnic wear was available for sale right at the doorstep of NSPG, last Friday, 29th October 2021!
Parents were grateful that we brought a mini ‘Little India’ to them through our pop up booth and went all out to support our cause! We were heartened to see parents buying even more than one bottle of snack for the migrant workers, snacks for sharing in class and even for their own consumption! What a multi-racial delight to behold!
Check out the handwritten notes and text message on what our parents think about this initiative:
On Deepavali, Ms Marlin delivered a box of goodies to the migrant workers at Home Stay Lodge @ Kaki Bukit in collaboration with City Harvest Community Services Association (CHCSA).
Yesterday, we delivered another box & bags of Deepavali goodies to the worksite of Punggol Regional Sports Centre, right across SAFRA Punggol!
We are truly humbled that this initiative lit up a smile on the faces of our dear migrant workers! Thank your Ms Marlin, team at NSPG, parents and of course our beloved Stars for supporting this cause!
