Each class from the centre wanted to play their part in finalizing the hamper gift of our beautifully tie-dyed clothes to our migrant worker friends. While some wrote down some Thank You’s and words of appreciation, others helped to fold, tie and neatly arrange the clothes nicely in a basket.
Together, the children helped to compile the nicely rolled-up shirts and appreciation cards to make a hamper for the migrant worker friends.
Once completed, a representative from “Its Raining Raincoats” kindly linked us up with a site supervisor, who helped us to arrange a visit to his work site.
Our Principal, Ms Clare Yeo, shared with the migrant worker friends some of the behind-the-scenes photos, from the tie dye workshop that was conducted with the parents to the preparations done at school. She shared with them how the children got to learn more about their contributions for Singapore and really appreciated their hard work.
When the migrant friends saw how the children had gone about making the tie dye shirts with their families, they commented with surprise at how young the children were. They were very happy to receive the shirts!
The remaining shirts that we had collected from the tie dye workshop were donated to Its Raining Raincoats newly opened first-of-its-kind free store and lounge area dedicated to our migrant friends. We hope these lovingly tie dyed shirts brighten up their day!
