Biodiversity boosts our ecosystem ‘s productivity where each species, no matter how small, have an important role to play. The greater species we have, the more we have sustainability in all forms of life. The larger the number of plant species, the greater variety of crops we have. In this celebration, the children learnt what is biodiversity and how important it is in our lives. An introduction if biodiversity and a story which showed the importance of sea creature and sea grasses were shown to them.
The “Super Sea Grass Search” was read to the Tiny Tots and Fun Learners during story time and they did art activities using only natural resources. The Preppy Learners played the game “Bug Hunter” where they had to look for bugs and briefly described them. The Knowledge Builders played “Nature Hunters” where they need to look for butterflies around the campus. The Ready Skoolers did the GREEN WAVE activity where they planted the Mistletoe Figs.
A week before the celebration, teachers were briefed about what Biodiversity is about. They were introduced to the variety of activities that NParks catered this year and understood more on how the story and activity booklets are done. All the teachers brainstormed and exchanged ideas on how the activities will be conducted for the celebration.
