We were honoured and humbled to have Madam President graced the SSDB closing event at MY World @ Hougang Dewcourt on 24 August 2019.
The air was filled with excitement as we waited for Madam President’s arrival.
More than 120 participants joined us at this closure event including seniors from Fei Yue @ Hougang Dewcourt, who had worked with our children and parents to produce these beautiful art inspired pieces for auction in support of President’s Challenge.
Madam President joined in the fun and participated in activities with our children, parents and seniors. Our K1 and K2 children put up three performances for all.
All eight art pieces placed in auctions were snapped up! The winners received their prizes from Madam President. Our K2 children also handcrafted a uniquely MY World gift for Madam President. They learnt tie dye techniques, experimented with different materials and methods until they created the perfect piece of shawl.
Inspired by their visit to the ArtScience Museum, the children and teachers created outdoor art installations, the cellophane installation for visitors to interact with art. Alongside, other artwork pieces made by children, teachers, and the seniors were also out up for sale to raise funds for President’s Challenge.
It was indeed a meaningful and memorable closing!
