For this year’s Start Small Dream big project, our children wanted to show their appreciation to the healthcare workers who have been working effortlessly during the Covid-19 pandemic and endemic, in the hospitals and nursing homes. They also did not forget the vulnerable seniors who need a lot of care and love during this unprecedented time.
The children from the different levels discussed how they can show appreciation to the healthcare workers.
They realized that there are many seniors who live in nursing homes. During that pandemic, the doctors and nurses were their greatest support. Taking care of seniors requires plenty of patience and care.
Children from k1 to K2 suggested making a huge appreciation card for the healthcare workers at kwong Wai Shiu Hospital.
The N2 children made a heart shape card and decorated the card with colourful hear shape crepe paper.
The K2 children created a special card for the health care workers with drawings of health care workers. Each puppet was uniquely designed by them. They also created one with palm prints and folded hearts.
In conjunction with this year theme “Many helping hands, caring for everybody”, the children made handprints to create a bulletin board to remind them of the helping hands of the healthcare workers.
The children also wanted to be like the healthcare workers who care for the seniors. On the 8th August, the children sang and danced for the Seniors, to bring them some cheers.
The seniors were delighted and clapped their hands and sang with the children.
The cards which are created by the children were delivered to kwong Wai Shiu Hospital. The staff were touched that the children remembered their efforts even after the pandemic.
