M.Y World @ Hougang DewCourt aimed to rediscover the spirit of ‘thankfulness’ in this project as we dived into unique ways to show appreciation to our essential workers, more specifically - our migrant workers.
The team introduced the virtue of “Thankfulness” to the children from all levels. The children then got to practice this virtue by gifting our cook, cleaner and other members of the team with a craft that had been put together by the children themselves. Other children even worked with their family members to complete these crafts. Together, they gave out these handmade gifts to the migrant workers whom they had the opportunity to meet in the neighborhood. In some classes, the children had a reflective session where they pondered on what it would be like if their family, friends, helpers and essential workers were not around. Activities like these encourage children to be grateful for the things they have and the people around them.
