An act of kindness can make a world of difference to our family, friends and the community. Simple acts of kindness elevate the overall atmosphere and makes the person on the receiving end feel appreciated.
To illustrate an act of kindness, the children participated in an activity where they wrote a kind-hearted phrase or word for their friends. Some children wrote short phrases such as, “You are kind!” on a star-shaped note and placed it inside their friend’s bucket. Other children displayed acts of kindness through other means such as giving them a hug and saying, “You look good today!”.
With every act of kindness, I placed a ‘pom pom ball’ in the children’s bucket.
This bucket filling activity helped children develop compassion through displaying acts of kindness towards others. As they grow older, the children will understand the importance of kindness and leverage upon it to guide their future actions and behaviours in a positive approach.
