After the virtual show, our Ranger Buddies were engaged in a discussion to share what we could do to raise awareness about conserving our wildlife. With guidance, they decided to create posters using cardboard to spread the importance and impact of caring for our wildlife.
Hence, for Earth Day, we focused on the theme ‘Saving Wildlife, One Animal at a Time’!
‘I draw Pedro and his friends at the ocean! I love all the animals!’
To create the posters, our Ranger Buddies got their markers and started decorating the star cardboard cut-outs. They were seen drawing various animals (including Pedro the Sealion!) with messages like ‘Save our animals!’ and ‘We love animals!’.
We then recycled bottle caps that the children have collected and decorated the turtle’s shell with it. Additionally, the children filled Pedro’s cut-out with their thumb prints to mark the start of our ‘Start Small, Dream Big’ project, as well as our pledge to care for the wildlife together!
‘We pledge to protect and care for the animals! We need to throw our trash in the bin.’
Our PG, PN and Nursery children also participated actively in the pledge making! They helped to spread awareness through various crafts such as a ‘We Love Earth’ necklace.
Overall, it was a meaningful Earth Day celebration! The children were elated to help raise awareness about conserving wildlife through various ways (e.g., recycling old items). They are excited to be part of the ‘Adopt-An-Animal’ intiative organised by Mandai Wildlife Reserve to learn more about Pedro, and how they could help out in other ways! 💚ðŸ¦
