As part of the Start Small Dream Big (SSDB) campaign with the theme Unite for a Greener Future, the Principal and teacher visited the Preschool Market at Jurong to gather eco-friendly supplies.
The recyclables were used to create crafts for fundraising sales, engaging children in the practise of upcycling. In line with the school’s theme on Singapore, each class upcycled materials to create shakers using tin cans/ foils/ beads (PG/N1), paper collage of a favourite space in the neighbourhood using old magazines/newspapers (N2), painted favourite food using paint (k1) and did oil pastel drawings of Singapore landmarks(K2).
The sales proceeds were used to fund the National Day celebration at St. Luke’s Eldercare @ Keat Hong. The children performed for the elderly National Day songs and extended their knowledge of using different materials to create paintings of Singapore spaces together with the elderly.
This visit highlighted SSDB’s core values, showing that even small acts of kindness, when focused on sustainability, can unite communities and inspire hope for a greener future.
