On July 17, 2024, we organized a heart-warming visit to All Saints Home (Yishun Centre) with our children. This visit to the eldercare facility featured a series of engaging activities designed to foster appreciation for the elderly and build intergenerational bonds.
The children participated in various activities, including dance performances and bonding exercises, which provided an opportunity for meaningful interactions between the young and the elderly. These activities were instrumental in helping the children develop a deeper understanding of the lives and experiences of the seniors. They learned to appreciate the wisdom and contributions of the elders, while also enjoying the joy of sharing their own talents and enthusiasm.
Additionally, in preparation for the visit, we organized a donation drive to support All Saints Home. After liaising with the facility to understand their needs, we were thrilled to receive an overwhelming response from our parents and community partner, MOE Kindergarten @ Huamin Primary. The generous contributions collected through this drive were greatly appreciated by the staff and residents of All Saints Home.
This experience was effective in enhancing the children’s empathy and social responsibility. By engaging in activities with the elderly and contributing to the donation drive, the children developed a greater sense of community and connection to those around them. The visit not only enriched their understanding of intergenerational relationships but also highlighted the importance of giving back and supporting one another. Overall, the day was a meaningful and impactful experience for all involved.
