Children indeed can make a world of difference.
That goes to show when our little Earth-saving heroes from PCF Sparkletots Preschool @ TK 415 excitedly donned on their orange hats for a special SSDB launching.
Despite the challenging time that we are currently encountering, it did not hinder the children to come together and start their advocacy which is to help save the Earth on their simple yet impactful ways. Behind our masks are huge smiles that depict our happiness to indulge in and be a part of the highly-esteemed SSDB community.
A fun way to start the launching was to get children watch the SSDB 2020 video to keep them aware of the initiatives of the project and how it becomes a tool to reach out to the community.
We then highlighted our theme for this year which is āMake Everyday an Earth Dayā whereby children learnt the importance of conserving energy and preserving natural resources in order to make Earth a better place to live in. We also put much emphasis on the relevance of 3Rs namely Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and how this could be applied in their daily routine.
Without further ado, children hopped in to an interesting game which tasked them to identify various recyclable items and sort all of it accordingly.
Everyone was cheering on one another when their peers started hopping from one end towards the other using the bouncer and potato sack. When they reached the other end, they reliably placed the recyclable items in the corresponding boxes with labels namely paper, plastic, tin/can.
The MSD room was filled with so much laugher when we officially launched the project. The teachers prepared some balloons that contain piece of paper with SSDB letters imprinted on it. The children were full of enthusiasm upon using the box scooter to reach the point where the balloons were located and started popping them.
They then formed the letters accordingly and read it aloud āSSDB 2020ā.
After the enthralling activities, the children cooled down a bit while waiting for the next activity. A poster was prepared for children to imprint their handprints as a way of sealing their pledge to save the Earth.
The children cued in the āpaint boothā to wait for their turns to get their hands painted by the teacher. It was great to see the poster filled with various handprints. We hope that this pledge will motivate children to help safeguard the Earth and make it a better place to live in.Ā
