We have come to the end of our SSDB Project : “Joy of Caring Makes a Difference “. Our journey continues to show appreciation, care and love to the people around us.
Toddler -Joy“Teachers, Thank you for helping me to grow!”
In 3 of September 2021 was Teacher’s day, it’s the day to thank the effort and hard work given by teachers throughout the year. Toddlers created a thank you card and lollipop flower bouquet for their teachers.
Children were guided to put the lollipop into the holes on baking cups then wrapped and tighted the ribbon with teacher’s assistance. Children also printed their hand print on a paper to foam a flower to create thank you card. They gave the thank you cards and lollipop bouquet to Teachers saying “Thank you teacher” to show their appreciation.
N1-Care
“Showing Care and Appreciating our Cleaner Aunty”
Through This project, children showed appreciation to the cleaner in our centre. We started the project by inviting our school cleaner to the classroom where the children questioned them about their roles in the school.
Cleaning auntie introduced the cleaning equipments to the children and they get the chance to use they helped to clean their own classroom with Auntie’s guidance and Teacher’s facilitation. Children learnt how to use some cleaning materials.
After experiencing what it was like to clean their own classroom, the children have been helping in simply wiping the tables when it is their lunch time and snack time. They showed graciousness and responsibility in cleaning their own mess.
N2- Love
‘We Love and Care for Animals’
To learn how to care of animals, children were taught animals’ needs including their habi-tat/home. N2s knew that NATURE is a home for most of the animals. During discussion, each voiced out an idea on how they can help ‘Save Nature’. Bringing nature items to school, children got an opportunity to create a simple habitat for animals, insects and oth-er creatures. They agreed that taking care of its environment is respecting, loving and car-ing for these other living things.
To instill love and care for animals, N2s made ‘I Love Animals’ headbands and wore those when they performed learnt songs such as ‘Love Your Pets’ and ‘I Like Animals’.
K1-Honesty
“Promoting Healthy Living “
Children continued to look at healthy living together. This time, they were engaged in a motor skills activity of hopscotch. Through playing, their knowledge of healthy and unhealthy foods was reinforced, and they could demonstrate care as they helped to keep a look out for each other’s safety.
Two stations of hopscotch were set-up, one made up of anti-slip mats, another made with masking tape.
Two contrasting food option were placed side by side at random parts of the hopscotch.
Children had to choose between the two choices and pick up the healthier food choice in their hopscotch journey!
Children were all skilled in picking out the healthier food and had lots of fun completing the hopscotch! 😊
K2 Unity
Appreciating Parents and Teachers; A Value All Children Should Foster
In continuation of K2s SDDB project, their Sense of Appreciation towards other people should always start within their safest zone. To bring awareness to K2 children on how they can make someone feel valued and loved, they were asked on who are the most special person on their lives whom they feel love and secure the most. And that led them on their activity in making something that they can show and give to their Parents and Teachers.
Video and Message Presentation for Parents
To express their love and appreciation to their Mama and Papa, K2 children had given their sweet simple message for their parents. They had also performed the song “You Raise Me Up”. Their video message and song performance was shown to their parents last Parents’ Day.
K2 Children had performed the song ‘You Raise Me Up’. They worked with their teacher in creating the actions of the song. They offered the song to their parents and sung it with a grateful heart.
A Loving Children Comes from a Caring Teacher
Children had used the opportunity during Teacher’s Day to show how they appreciate all the love and care that their teachers are giving them. K2 children had brainstormed on what they wanted to make, and they came up to a decision in making flower and a message card.
Children had also shared what they loved the most about their teachers and most of them had said that they all love their teachers because they are taking care of them and teaching them many things.
K2 children were so eager to create a gift for their teachers. They came up with a plan to create a flower and a card made of paper strips that are readily available in school.
The K2 children had expressed their creativity as they get to choose how they can make their card more attractive and nicer. They also wrote simple message for their Teachers!
