Centre Staff & Environment
A team of committed principal (25 years in childcare industry) and teachers (most of whom have taught in this centre for more than 10 years) operate this recently renovated and well-maintained centre which is spread over two blocks. Clear and concise schedule and notices are placed outside each classroom to indicate classroom number, schedule of lessons and teachers involved. With the renovation, a new gym and music room was added to the centre.
The estate is endowed with suitable infrastructures such as basketball and football courts and greenery where children can explore and use for their physical activities.
Curriculum and Enrichment
The centre utilises PCF Central Curriculum to develop the children in the 6 domains namely, Environmental awareness, Motor skills development, Numeracy development, Language & Literacy, Self & social awareness and Aesthetics & creative expressions. After school, enrichment lessons in English, Maths and Chinese are conducted by the centre’s teachers for K1 and K2 children.
Award and Grant
In July 2012, the centre was awarded SPARK - The Singapore Pre-school Accreditation Framework, a quality assurance framework which seeks to enhance the teaching, learning, administration and management processes of pre-schools, by the Ministry of Education.
In 2010, the centre was awarded the MOE Innovation Award for their project, “Discovery at Blk 285C Toh Guan”. They involved their children in growing two rows of vegetables in the Residents’ Committee’s Garden and Vegetable Corner. Through this activity, the children learn the science of plant growing and also had the opportunity to work with their friends and learn to take care of nature.
The centre was also given a grant by the MOE in 2011 to promote healthy living amongst children and parents. The centre taught children about eating healthily and organised a competition to encourage parents to bring healthy food to the centre for their children. The parents also acted as judges.
