Holiday Fun
Besides having enrichment programmes outside the curriculum hours for their children during term time, this centre also organises holiday enrichment programmes for their children during the June and year-end school holidays. Some of the programmes organised include Science Made Fun, 3-in-1 English, Chinese Drama Camp and Learning the Ukulele.
This is certainly something that children and parents can look forward to as children can be meaningfully occupied during the long holidays with their learning extended to other areas that the normal curriculum cannot cover due to the lack of time during term time. Enrichment programmes during term time include English 3-in-1 and swimming classes.
Extension to the curriculum
The centre is planning to set up a Science Discovery Corner next year. This is to encourage the children to develop an inquiring mind and have opportunities to discover and learn Science concepts.
Parents-read-over-the-weekend requires each child to bring home a book on every Friday to read with his/her parents over the weekend. On Mondays, they will stand in front of their classmates to share what they have read with their parents. In this way, the centre hopes to help the children develop confidence in public speaking and pick up good oral and language skills.
Phonic reinforcement lesson is another extension to the curriculum. The teachers help children recall the phonemic sounds that they have learnt through games.
New Look
Parents have given their thumbs up to the positive changes that the recent renovation has done to the centre.
The centre is brighter. The classrooms are bigger. There is now a gym cum music room. The light-coloured walls bring out the best of the children’s art work. The centre is linked through so it is easy for children and teachers to move from one area to another within the centre. The teachers now have a big resource room to place their materials, prepare their teaching aids and meet together to brainstorm and discuss matters related to the centre and children.
It is a wonderful change and certainly everyone from children to staff have benefitted from this positive change.
